Areas of Use / Food and Hygienic Applications

Hygiene is extremely important in food substances. Therefore, exchangers used in food applications are manufactured entirely from stainless steel. Food substance comes into contact only with stainless surfaces and special seals certified for food suitability (FDA). Some of the systems used in this field are as follows:

Milk Pasteurization
Milk, one of the basic food substances, is difficult to store for long periods while maintaining its healthiness in production and collection. Therefore, various methods have been tried throughout history to extend its shelf life, and finally, pasteurization technology has been developed. Pasteurization is the process of quickly raising milk to high temperatures and then lowering the temperature again. This process renders bacteria in milk inactive, extending its shelf life. MIT Plate Heat Exchangers are designed in a multi-stage manner suitable for pasteurization. The greatest advantage of using plate exchangers in pasteurization is achieving high regeneration values. Milk within the plate exchanger is in a cycle where heated milk from heating and cooled milk from cooling stages collide during regeneration, facilitating heat transfer. This system saves energy and time, completing processes much faster and at lower costs. Hygienic inlets and outlets for other equipment such as Separator, Homogenizer, Holder, and Degasser are designed according to requirements and delivered ready for installation in MIT multi-stage Plate Heat Exchangers.

Yogurt – Buttermilk Pasteurization
After undergoing processes applied to milk, yogurt, like milk, provides an ideal environment for bacteria to thrive and reproduce. Therefore, similar processes applied to milk are also applied to yogurt. MIT wide-range plate exchangers deliver maximum performance in dense fluids like yogurt and buttermilk, offering impeccable pasteurization solutions.

CIP Applications
Hygiene is crucial in processing food substances prone to bacterial formation such as milk and yogurt. In these applications, the entire processing line where food substance is processed must be cleaned at regular intervals to prevent bacterial formation. The liquid used in cleaning is called CIP. This liquid must circulate in the system at specified flow rates and temperatures. MIT Plate Heat Exchangers are also used to maintain the desired temperatures of CIP liquids.

Chemical Applications
Chemical fluids used in the chemical industry require heating or cooling according to the process. Correct temperature values must be maintained at every stage of the process to achieve accurate results. Heating can be done with steam or hot water, and cooling can be done with sources like cooling towers and chillers. The primary issue in the chemical industry is the aggressiveness level of the chemicals used. Aggressive chemicals pose a risk to both plates and seals in plate exchangers. Therefore, selecting the correct plates and seals is crucial. MIT Plate Heat Exchangers offer solutions suitable for all types of fluids with specific applications such as double-layered plates, different alloys, and special Viton seals.
