Actuators
The actuator is an operator mechanism that provides automation of the opening/closing process of the valve. It is mounted on the valve and connected to the valve body. There are different types of actuators and different uses of these types. Power driven actuators are basically divided into three.
Electric Actuator
It uses the electric motor to open and close the valve.
Pneumatic Actuator
It uses pneumatic systems powered by compressed air to open and close the valve.
Hydraulic Actuator
It uses hydraulic systems powered by pressurized fluid to open and close the valve.

General Information
Electric Actuator
Electric actuators use an electric motor to open and close the valve. The driving force obtained from the electric motor ensures the circular movement of the gears inside the body. Since a gear system is used, a constant torque rotation is provided from the beginning to the end of the opening/closing process. Electric actuators, which can be used with many different valves such as butterfly and ball valves, perform the valve opening and closing operation slower compared to pneumatic and hydraulic actuators due to their internal gear systems. Advantages of Electric Actuators- Electricity is readily available everywhere
- Long lifespan of products
- Precision control capability
- Wide operating voltage range
- Wide maximum rotation angle tolerance
- Quiet operation
Pneumatic Actuator
Pneumatic actuators are actuators operated by compressed air. In most applications, pneumatic actuators are preferred due to their lightweight and durable structures. They are cost-effective and reliable, can be used in explosive environments, and can serve as a fail-safe closing actuator in emergency situations. Single-acting pneumatic actuators are produced in a model that opens/closes with spring force. This means that the actuator remains in an open or closed position until it is actuated. When actuated, it switches to the opposite position: if it is open, it closes; if it is closed, it opens. The spring inside it ensures it returns to its original position. Since pneumatic actuators work with a compressor, installation costs are slightly higher, but operational costs are low as air is used as the raw material. They are noisier compared to electric actuators. Types of Pneumatic Actuators- Diaphragm type
- Piston-cylinder type
- Gate
- Diaphragm
- Ball
- Butterfly
